How ClearFluency works
ClearFluency builds fluency, comprehension and vocabulary
a model of fluent reading.
Every ClearFluency session begins with a word wall that pre-teaches academic vocabulary and offers pronunciations for all words.
Students then record as they read the text aloud, receiving support when they mispronounce or struggle with a word. After recording, students can see colour-coded feedback and privately listen to their audio.
After they have recorded the selection, students take a short comprehension quiz that allows them to reread and look for text evidence when answering.

What age is ClearFluency suitable for?
This program is generally suitable for students who can read at a speed of at least 40 words per minute (at their comfortable reading level) and are in Prep (Pre-Primary / Reception) and above. Will this program also improve reading comprehension?
ClearFluency does include several comprehension components but is primarily a reading fluency program. See our Reading Boost program for reading comprehension help.

Is there a guarantee?
As health and education professionals, we adhere by relevant advertising standards which state we can’t guarantee a certain result (every brain is different!) What we do guarantee is to provide you with awesome, research-backed exercises and professional support to help you progress through the programs. We’re committed to helping you improve your skills and are always here to help throughout your program.
Can I use my NDIS funding?
Take a look at our therapy program for NDIS participants. We use video consultations with health professionals and engaging online activities to help you reach your goals.
When does the course begin and end?
Your course will begin on your first training day and end 3, 6 or 12 months later (depending on your chosen package). Sonic Learning’s team will monitor and adjust your program during this time as needed. You will have unlimited access and do not need to worry about running out of exercises to do.
Can I pause my subscription?
Your subscription will begin on your first day of training and cannot be paused, but it’s ok to take up to a week’s break for every 3 months you’re on the program – just aim for 20 sessions per month for best results.
How long will I need to complete the program?
As the ClearFluency library contains hundreds of selections, you can keep going on this program for a long time if you’d like to! The amount of time you spend on the program will depend on a number of factors including your goals and current reading skill level. Talk to us before you enrol so we can recommend a suitable course length.
Can I purchase additional training time?
Yes, at the end of the initial subscription you may purchase additional training time in monthly blocks, with discounts provided for purchases of 2 or 3 month extensions.
What technology do I need?
DEVICE
- We recommend a computer (Windows or Mac) running Chrome browser for the best experience.
- An iPad 5 or above can be used – just bear in mind the text will be smaller and you won’t be able to use a comfortable headset.
HEADSET
ClearFluency needs an approved headset for the voice recognition to work properly. Please only use an approved headset listed below.
- For computers: Logitech H390 or Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 headset
- For iPads: Apple EarPods (wired) with 3.5mm plug or lightning connector (check your iPad ports)
