“Guided oral reading is the best way to foster fluency.”
— National Reading Panel, 2000
ClearFluency students improved reading fluency 23% more than control group
In this study, the impact of ClearFluency on fluency improvement was evaluated with students in years 2–5. The research design was an experimental study using a nationally-normed measure to determine the fluency gains of students who used ClearFluency relative to the fluency gains of students in a grade-matched comparison group.
Students worked on the program 30 minutes per day, once or twice a week for 17 weeks. Across all four grades, fluency gains were significantly greater for students who used ClearFluency than for those who did not. ClearFluency students experienced a fluency gain of 23% over the control group and 43% over national norms.
